Cool weather and slick tires were the flavor of the day at Barber Motorsports Park. As the day progressed, things got a little better, with temps in the low 50’s, but still found the BFG’s weren’t in their sweet-spot.
Still managed 1:48~1:49 in red run group traffic. Downforce is a BIG player at Barber, and most Miatas found their speed early and often. Had to make up time using lots of curbing. Atlanta Speedwerks has given the car more suspension travel, which lets it run just about anywhere it wants.
Things were just dialing in until a power steering line blew at the start of the fourth session, sending us home. Can’t wait to get back to BMP in the Mazdaspeed3! The MX5 is a fun car, but my arm gets tired hangin’ out windows giving point-bys!!! Shout-out to Jzilla Track Days: ALWAYS a fun time!!!
